What is GPS?
GPS is an acronym for Global Positioning System. It's a system of satellites and receiving devices used to compute positions on the Earth.
How Does Guardian Angel Child Monitoring Work?
The idea behind the Guardian Angel system is quite simple. Your child carries a GPS equipped cell phone that records its position and transmits it over the cellular network to the Guardian Angel web site. The web site records your child's position in our database and allows you to access that information at your leisure.
How accurate is the Guardian Angel Service?
Very accurate! Under the best conditions, our GPS unit is accurate within a couple of feet. As conditions worsen, GPS readings can be off by as much as a city block. About one in a few thousand readings may be off by a matter of miles.

Yes. Our monitoring Cell Phone is perfect for use on long trips taken alone and any situation where an adult is traveling. Adults also face dangers and other challenges, and the Guardian Angel Technology may be applicable to monitor adults with cognitive disabilities, or illnesses. Although adults are welcome to use our tracking technology, please check with your local state laws for any restrictions. Our GPS tracking technology can only be used to monitor children, teenagers, or adults by their legal guardian / parents / and by adults that have given written permission to be monitored.
Is the tracking cell phone ready for use when I get it?
Yes. There is no need for difficult setup and waiting for service. The cell phone is fully configured and tested before we ship it out to you. The phone is ready to make and take calls. Just open the box, follow the activation instructions, and you are ready to monitor your loved ones.
Does the Guardian Angel Tracking Cell Phone work indoors or under dense foliage?
The GPS unit almost always works outdoors, and will still work indoors if it's close enough to a window. Only the densest of foliage, combined with cloudy skies, will prevent the unit from getting its position.
The Guardian Angel GPS unit receives GPS signals from up to 15 satellites at a time. Any of these signals may be blocked by walls, ceilings, trees, leaves, etc. However, if signals from even a few satellites get through to the unit, it will work. It is also worth noting that our device will still maintain contact with our servers even if it cannot determine its location. Even if your child is indoors for hours, we will be able to tell you their last known location (that would usually be the door to the building), and the status of the device (battery strength, cellular signal strength and GPS signal strength).
Will the Guardian Angel Cell phone work everywhere my child goes?
Yes and no. As noted above, the device generally does not work indoors. The performance of our system also depends on the cellular network of your carrier. The GPS unit will almost always know its position outdoors, but that doesn't matter if it cannot transmit its data. Most major carriers maintain strong nationwide networks, so the GPS unit will almost always be able to relay its information. Also, in the event that our GPS unit cannot transmit its location, it's designed to save the data and send it automatically whenever it can make contact with our servers.
Why is there limited coverage when GPS works anywhere in the world?
Our GPS device or cell phones works on the carrier’s network (BOOST Mobile) to transmit its location to our servers. If there is no carrier coverage where the unit is, there is just no way for us to know its status. In addition, the web-based user interface utilizes Google map data for displaying location. However, if Google does not provide map data in a certain country, the user is still able to use satellite data to display location. In any event, remember that we do save the device's status from its last transmission. That means that we can show you where the last known location of the device or cell phone was, and what its signal strength was at that time.
How reliable is the Guardian Angel Cell phone?
Very reliable! Guardian Angel Technology went to great lengths to make its GPS devices as reliable as possible. There simply is no device on the market that is as accurate as ours, or takes location readings as frequently as ours. The server that receives data from the GPS units and the database that stores the information are both protected by fail safe backup. Those machines are completely separate from the server that presents location data to the user. Therefore, in the rare event that the tracking site is unavailable, we will still be collecting information from our GPS Device or cell phones.
How do you prevent unauthorized people from tracking my children?
Every point of access to your child's data is password protected and the information traveling in-between you and our web site is always encrypted.
Can I just purchase the device without the monthly software fee?
No. Our system is a bundled solution. The device which has our software installed on it communicates with our computer system which translates GPS data from the device into geographical location and speed, displayed on a web-based interface. The monthly fee provides you with access to that web-based interface.
Is your cell phone a REAL cell phone?
Yes. The tracking software is developed by us (Guardian Angel Technology). The approved cell phone you choose comes from BOOST Mobile, a prepaid service that allows you to avail yourself of any service through the purchase of prepaid time. There is no service plan commitment.
What should I do if I lose the cell phone?
First, remember that your cell phone has our software in it. Log onto the internet and see where your cell phone or device is at! If it is stolen, the thief will be very sorry! If the cell phone ran out of battery, then it is truly lost. Call us and we will transfer service to another cell phone. Please note, there will be charges related to the replacement of lost cell phones.
How do I get billed?
You will be billed when you first buy one of our cell phones. We will require a credit card. Your monthly fees for accessing the tracking website are billed monthly on your credit card.
Will I get a separate bill for voice service if I buy a cell phone?
No. BOOST Mobile is a prepaid service, providing you the flexibility of purchasing minutes as you need them. You completely manage your service cost, and will receive no bill from Guardian Angel Technology for voice service.
How do I cancel my monthly account?
Canceling your website access account is easy but we think you will be happy with our service. Just write an email to info@guardianangeltech.com stating your desire to cancel your account. Your phone will still be operational, as long as you continue to purchase time from BOOST Mobile. |
